"For 16 years, TAF has transformed the lives of Seattle's youth of color through education in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). In partnership with King County Parks and the generosity of many donors, TAF built the new Bethaday Community Learning Space (BCLS). Working with Foushée on the BCLS has been a great experience. This was the first building we developed and we appreciated their team helping us through the process. Their communication was excellent and they were very helpful with any questions or concerns. The success of the project provided new office space, meeting areas, learning labs, an academic-support center, and a multipurpose room with a kitchen for community groups to host gatherings. Thank you Foushée for helping us create our striking new learning center that will impact a population beyond its kids."

– Trish Millines Dziko, Executive Director, Technology Access Foundation –

A 24,204 SF administration and technology learning center located in White Center near Seattle, Washington. Technology Access Foundation (TAF) is a non-profit foundation with a mission “to prepare underserved students of color for success in a technology-driven world by providing technology and life skills training”. The site is easily accessible by foot, bicycle, or bus, as it is in the northeast corner of Lakewood Park, a King County park bordered by multi-family and single family residences.

The facility provides education outreach and acts as a community center for the surrounding neighborhood. The building design and form responds to this community aspect, as well as environmental conditions by being an efficient and sustainable building.

The project achieved LEED Silver Certification. Awards: 2013 AIA Seattle Honor Award; 2013 AIA Washington Council Civic Design Award.
