Description: 18,469 sq. ft. adaptive reuse of a 2-story wood framed church into a private school for special needs students. The renovation included high-end finishes, classrooms, conference rooms, a kitchen, a multipurpose room, sensory and quiet rooms, and therapy rooms for occupational, mental health, and speech/language. Several structural modifications were included, as well as new MEP systems and extensive data and audio/video additions. Site work included new playground, landscaping and irrigation over 4 acres with new utility extensions and city street improvements.
"Children's Institute for Learning Differences (CHILD) is both an accredited day school for children ages 5-17 and a developmental therapy clinic for children 3-18 with special needs. Since 1977, CHILD has been serving children placed by parents or in partnership with over 20 school districts. After 21 years of renting space on Mercer Island, CHILD was faced with an almost impossible task - 180 days notice to vacate and a complete renovation of the property we recently purchased. With this challenge, we needed a team we could count on and Foushée delivered. Not only was our construction project completed in record time, the entire team at Foushée was "all in" for a successful completion from the get-go. The staff, students and families at CHILD will never be able to thank them all enough. Angels among us. Every one of them. As you can imagine, CHILD enthusiastically recommends Foushée to anyone looking for a professional, reliable general contractor with a proven track record - and a heart."
- Carrie Fannin, Executive Director, CHILD
