OVERVIEW

"Working with Foushée on the new First Stage performance center in Issaquah has been a great pleasure. Foushée performed well in all the regular contractor roles, such as scheduling, communications, facilitating constructability issues, and being proactive in planning and problem solving. Developing a project for a non-profit organization has a unique set of challenges that private development does not have – especially with the owner inexperienced at development and having to meet important fundraising goals. Foushée understood the difference. Foushée's sensitivity and leadership with the design team and the subcontractors helped facilitate the project. Its staff filled many non-traditional roles, making Foushée an even more invaluable team member on this complicated performing arts center construction project. The budget was incredibly tight, but Foushée consistently helped the owner find the most cost-effective systems both during the design process as well as the construction process. First Stage also had the added complexity of incorporating specialty equipment necessary for a performance space. Foushée staffers made a great effort to understand how all the specialty equipment was used, so they could help coordinate its procurement and installation. This included the specialized theatre seating, rigging and light grids, audio systems, lighting systems, box office requirements, not to mention sensitivity to construction finishes and how color and light affect the performance spaces and stage. Foushée was very creative in solving design issues as they came along, understood all LEED requirements (better than many contractors), provided good value for the dollars spent, assisted in fundraising, and generally made my job much easier"
