In a tribute to the craftsmanship of Foushée and Associates, the
Washington Aggregate and Concrete Association has given two of its
“Excellence in Concrete” awards to the firm.
The Time Square Project in Renton was recognized for the firm’s
construction of a unique entryway and plaza to the five-building,
250,000 sq. ft. business park. The focal point of the plaza is a
giant concrete sundial with a 20-foot stainless steel gnomon.
Different colors of aggregate concrete were also used to distinguish
the project’s major elements.
The Johnson International Industries in Kent won recognition in the tilt-up
structure category. The 97,000 sq. ft. building consolidates
operations for the hardwood manufacturer. The building was designed
to be economical to build and maintain, yet have pleasing
aesthetics. This was accomplished by a 45-degree angle on its
façade, wainscoting and pre-cast window sills. |
